A Sixth former will take his first steps towards a professional stage career when he appears at the Pavilion Theatre, Rhyl on July 9th-10th.

Jordan Harwood will play Troy in Emrys ap Iwan's production of Disney's High School Musical, and he has two leading ladies opposite him.

The role of Gabriella will be played by Emma Gizzi and Kia Darlington.  The cast will also be boosted by 22 primary school pupils from Ysgol Sant Elfod.

The show tells the tale of teenage love involving a sporty young man and a studious young girl.

Jordan said,  "It's  a great story.  Troy and Gabriella meet on holiday before she moves to his school.  He is heavily into basketball and she is something of a maths geek.  They both audition for roles in the school musical and when everyone finds out it causes chaos.  It's about breaking down social barriers and accepting people for who they are."

Drama teacher Nia Stalker, who has been working on the production along with fellow drama teacher Kevin Jones and music teacher Laura Kestell, said, "We have a great mix of learners all the way from year 5 up to year 13.  Our biggest problem came after auditions were held and we ended up with two leading ladies.

Kia and Emma are both so talented and we couldn't split them.  As a result they will each play the lead role of Gabriella Montez."

Kia Darlington, plays Gabriella on the Thursday and said, "It's going to be a great experience.  Gabriella, as a character, is a bit like me."
